Western Red Cedar is the largest and most abundant of all cedars in managed forests. Western Red Cedar wood is naturally resistant to decay and insect attacks, and it doesn’t “bleed” like other woods, which makes it perfect for stains, sealers, and paints. The Western Red Cedar is generally straight-grained and has a uniform but rather coarse texture. It has very low shrinkage. C&Btr Clear is high-quality lumber for use where appearance is important but permits more numerous characteristics than Clear Heart or “A” Grades. In addition to interior and exterior trim, as well as exterior cladding, Western Red Cedar of this grade is also used for cabinetry, doors, windows, and similar applications.
